While not the epic struggle that was Netscape vs. Internet Explorer, I find myself now running three browsers on Mac OS X. Being a web developer, I actually use many other browsers. But as just a normal web user, I have been using Camino for a couple of years now. Recently Firefox and Safari came out with version three of their respective offerings. I've been doing some work with RSS feeds lately and I've had to drift away from Camino more and more because of the less than elegant way that it handles raw XML. In moving to the most recent version of Firefox, I have found almost everything just a bit more advanced than both of the other browsers. But I am still very fond of Camino's icons in the toolbar shortcuts and Safari has got some very nice features, not to mention the fact that when I get a new iPhone I will almost certainly feel the need to sync seamlessly across devices. Preference aside, it is finally very comforting to see that in all cases, the rendering of mark-up and CSS and the execution of client-side scripting is nearly identical across offerings. Let's hope Apple and Microsoft keep Explorer for Mac dead and buried for good.
